This page aims to make available the editions of the famous Go-Set magazine which was the first Australian pop music newspaper. It was published weekly from 2 February 1966 to 24 August 1974, and was founded in Melbourne by Phillip Frazer, Peter Raphael and Tony Schauble. Widely described as a pop music "bible", it became an influential publication, introduced the first national pop record charts and featured many notable contributors including fashion designer Prue Acton, journalist Lily Brett, rock writer / band manager Vince Lovegrove, music commentator Ian Meldrum, rock writer / music historian Ed Nimmervoll and radio DJ Stan Rofe. Go-Set had a profound influence and Phillip Frazer, in conjunction with Geoff Watson, founded and published Australian Rolling Stone in January 1971. A comprehensive Go-Set web site, created by Barry McKay, with many detailed articles and resources is available at www.poparchives.com.au/gosetcharts) Click here to view David Kent's thesis on the place of Go-Set in Australian Rock & Pop Music Culture Click here to view an article celebrating the 50th anniversary of Go-Set presented by Phillip Frazer in The Age newspaper
