In Memory of George (The Dag) George was 12 years old when he passed away from cancer on June 1st, 2012 George was rescued from the Lost Dogs home just before he was scheduled to be put down. The day after he came home it was discovered that he had a lump on his chest. After having an operation to cut out the cancerous tumour George had to undergo a course of chemotherapy. During his life he had two more operations to remove cancerous lumps. Unfortunately, the final time he developed cancer left him too weak to undergo any intrusive therapy. His last few weeks were spent in front of the fire or lying in the sun eating biscuits and treats to his heart's content. George the Labrador was the head food taster and bed warmer of the household. His happy nature and natural zest for life made him a wonderful member of the family. His legion of fans, who loved to say hello and pat him when he went on his walks, were a testament to his friendliness and lovability. George's loving personality could be summed up in the words of the song by The Doors. His eyes and his wagging body always said:
George will be greatly missed
